Functional Motion

Please read the following terms carefully before booking or attending a session.

1. Consent to Treatment

By booking and attending a session at Functional Motion, you consent to participate in services that may include:

  • Precision manual therapy (clothed, oil-free)
  • Assisted stretching
  • Myofascial techniques, including scraping or cupping where appropriate
  • Guided mobility and strengthening exercises

You confirm that you are medically fit to participate in manual and movement-based sessions, or that you have obtained appropriate medical clearance where necessary.

If you are unsure about your suitability for treatment, please consult a qualified healthcare provider before booking.

2. Client Responsibility & Transparency

You agree to provide accurate and complete information regarding your health history, including but not limited to:

  • Medical conditions
  • Injuries or surgeries
  • Medications
  • Pregnancy
  • Any condition that may affect treatment

You agree to inform the practitioner of any changes to your health status that may impact your session.

Functional Motion cannot be held responsible for issues arising from undisclosed, incomplete, or inaccurate information.

3. Communication During Sessions

You agree to communicate openly during your session and inform the practitioner of any discomfort, pain, or concerns so that appropriate adjustments can be made.

You understand that manual therapy and stretching may cause temporary soreness or mild discomfort.

You may request modification or stop the session at any time.

4. Treatment Effects & Skin Marking

Certain techniques used at Functional Motion — including scraping (Gua Sha) and cupping — may temporarily leave visible redness, skin marking, or mild bruising.

These responses are a normal and short-term effect of increased circulation and tissue stimulation. Marking may vary depending on individual skin sensitivity and tissue condition.

By consenting to treatment, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of temporary skin marking as part of these techniques.

If you prefer not to receive techniques that may leave visible marks, you must inform the practitioner prior to or during the session.

5. Scope of Practice & Disclaimer

Functional Motion provides recovery and mobility services intended to support:

  • Movement quality
  • Physical comfort
  • Circulation
  • Joint mobility
  • Overall wellbeing

These services:

  • Are not a substitute for medical care
  • Do not constitute physiotherapy or medical treatment
  • Do not include medical diagnosis or rehabilitation plans

The practitioner is not a physiotherapist or medical doctor and does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medical treatment.

While sessions may support recovery and reduce discomfort, no guarantees of outcome are provided. Individual results vary.

6. Safety & Participation

All manual therapy and movement-based activities involve inherent risk.

By participating, you acknowledge that:

  • You engage voluntarily
  • You will follow guidance provided
  • You will work within your own physical limits

Functional Motion is not liable for injuries resulting from:

  • Failure to follow instructions
  • Misuse of equipment
  • Undisclosed medical conditions
  • Activities performed outside of sessions against professional advice

7. Hygiene & Preparation

All treatments at Functional Motion are performed fully clothed.

Clients are expected to attend sessions with a clean body and fresh clothing, including clean socks. This ensures comfort, professionalism, and a respectful environment for both client and practitioner.

If attending directly from training or work, please bring a change of clothes where possible.

Functional Motion reserves the right to reschedule or refuse treatment if basic hygiene standards are not met.

8. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

We understand that plans can change.
As a small practice, late cancellations and missed appointments have a significant impact.

To protect appointment times and ensure fairness for all clients, the following policy applies.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Appointments may be rescheduled once with more than 24 hours’ notice.
Any additional rescheduling will be treated as a cancellation.

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the appointment may be rescheduled or credited toward a future session.

Any credited session must be used within 14 days of the original appointment date.
Credits cannot be extended beyond this period.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment will be charged at the full session rate.

All rescheduling requests are subject to availability.

No-Shows

  • Failure to attend without notice will be considered a no-show.Future bookings may require full payment in advance.

Late Arrivals

Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you.

Late arrival may result in a shortened session to avoid impacting the next client.
The full session fee will still apply.

Payment

Payment is due at the end of each session unless agreed otherwise.

By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this policy.

9. Professional Conduct

Functional Motion maintains a professional and respectful environment.

Sessions will be immediately terminated if a client:

  • Behaves inappropriately
  • Makes inappropriate requests
  • Attends under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Full session fees will still apply in such cases.

10. Media Consent

Photographs or videos may occasionally be taken for educational or promotional purposes.

No identifiable images or videos will be used without prior written consent.

You may withdraw consent for future use at any time by providing written notice. Withdrawal does not affect materials already published prior to the withdrawal.

11. Health Contraindications

You confirm that you do not have medical conditions that would make participation unsafe without prior medical clearance.

Serious contraindications include, but are not limited to:

  • Severe or uncontrolled cardiovascular conditions
  • History of thrombosis or clotting disorders
  • Severe osteoporosis
  • Active infections
  • Severe neurological conditions
  • Active cancer
  • Severe respiratory illness
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Severe skin conditions
  • Intoxication

Conditions requiring caution or medical clearance include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Recent surgery
  • Lymphatic surgery or lymph node removal
  • Circulatory disorders
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Recent illness or hospitalisation

By booking a session, you confirm that you have disclosed relevant health information and understand the inherent risks associated with manual and movement-based work.
